Nebraska FFA Members Live to Serve by Packing Meals

(LINCOLN) – Nebraska FFA members and Union Bank & Trust (UBT) volunteers spent Friday morning packing 65,000 meals for Chapter 25, a local non-profit.

The event, held during the 91st Nebraska FFA State Convention, gave members the opportunity to learn more about serving their communities. The 480 FFA members packed a fortified rice meal, which will be distributed to many third world countries through orphanages schools and hospitals.

UBT served as the True Blue title partner for this program. Glenn Baumert, First Vice President, Ag Loans, said, “Certainly, we were pleased to be a part of this inaugural event last year as it was an overwhelming success for all involved. We are excited to again partner with the Nebraska FFA Foundation in expanding this important service event this year. The Living to Serve service-learning project perfectly fits Union Bank’s mission of supporting projects that give back to our communities as well as provide opportunities for participants to be of service to those in need. Observing the enthusiasm of the FFA students involved is truly heart-warming.

Anthony Riley, Chapter 25 Executive Director, says “For us to be able to feed 65,000 families, that makes a big impact on helping us to serve those in need. This food will go to Africa, Haiti, Asia, and other third world countries were people really need it.”
