Union Bank & Trust Donates $5,000 to Local FFA Chapters through Grant

Union Bank & Trust (UBT) has donated $5,000 to the Nebraska FFA Foundation to support local agriculture education classrooms and FFA needs. Osceola and Raymond Central FFA Chapters were selected to receive grants through this grant program.

The Osceola agricultural education program received a grant for their school farm. The first year they plan to have four sheep and two beef animals at their school farm. One long term goal for the project is to have more students choose agriculture careers because they received this hands-on experience.

The Raymond Central agricultural education program received a grant for their Hill of Dreams project. They plan to have six raised garden beds and hill space. The FFA members will rent a raised bed to have their own Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) to grow their own garden and sell their produce.

“With much uncertainty in our world today, we felt it was important to show our commitment to agriculture, to the ag communities we serve and to ag education and the continued development of our youth.  We are very pleased to provide financial support to these two FFA programs in their endeavors,” said Glenn Baumert, UBT First Vice President, Agriculture Lending Division Head.
