The Nebraska FFA Association hopes to host a Celebrate Nebraska FFA Day Event. They are currently working out details on a way to virtually recognize many student and adult award winners during a virtual, online recognition event.
As far as the many awards and recognition events, many of them are being judged right now, such as proficiency awards and Stars. There are many discussions on how to handle the Leadership Development Events (LDEs) and Career Development Events (CDEs) among the Nebraska FFA Association Board of Directors and the Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association CDE Committee. It is their intent to hold these event, but they will look different than the past.
While we understand this is not ideal for many of us, I know that the covid-19 pandemic only reinforced the importance of a safe, abundant food supply to feed people in our communities and globally. Agriculture has not shutdown during this pandemic and student learning is not ending either. Students will still be prepared for careers in agriculture and it is our hope that they'll take a second look at careers in the agriculture industry when they understand the role agriculture plays in times like this. Many students even have more time to put into their Supervised Agricultural Experiences. They're getting hands-on experience in the field and learning recordkeeping in the process.
I hope this message finds you and your family safe during this difficult time for many. As always, thank you so much for your support for young people in agriculture.
