More Than Just A Jacket….

Students from Omaha Bryan walk together, displaying the back of their FFA jackets.

To those unfamiliar or ones outside the agriculture community, it may simply look like blue corduroy and gold stitching. But to thousands of agriculture students across Nebraska, the iconic FFA jacket is an emblem of opportunity, a symbol of heritage, and a badge of honor. As the Nebraska FFA Foundation kicks off its annual Blue Jackets. Bright Futures. campaign running now through September 1, the focus shifts to a powerful truth: Owning this jacket can change a student's path.

It’s more than just a jacket; it’s a symbol of belonging and pride.

For generations, the FFA jacket has stood as the most recognizable symbol of FFA membership. Slipping it on instantly connects a student to a vast network of peers, mentors, and agricultural leaders. It removes social and economic barriers, placing every member on an equal playing field. When students wear a jacket featuring their own name on the front and their chapter's name on the back, they carry a deep sense of personal identity and community pride into every competition, convention, and leadership conference.

It’s more than just a jacket; it’s a commitment.

Owning a personal jacket provides a completely different experience. A tailored jacket that belongs solely to the student builds confidence and enables a student to proudly represent his or her chapter. It represents a commitment to personal growth, education, and the future of agriculture.

It’s more than just a jacket; it’s a memory.

This jacket is a lasting reminder of a student’s achievements. It becomes a keepsake filled with memories of public speaking contests, livestock judging, and late-night bus rides with teammates—a piece of their high school years that they will cherish long after graduation.

Unfortunately, the cost of purchasing FFA official dress can be a hurdle for many families.  The Nebraska FFA Foundation believes that financial constraints should never stand between a dedicated student and this vital piece of their FFA journey. Through the Blue Jackets. Bright Futures. program, the Foundation strives to provide deserving Nebraska members with a free jacket and matching tie or scarf. Students must submit a comprehensive application, backed by a recommendation from their FFA advisor. A committee of donors, board members, and supporters carefully reviews each submission to select the recipients.

Because this program relies entirely on the generosity of donors, the number of jackets awarded each year is directly tied to the support received between August 1 and September 1. A tax-deductible gift of $150 covers the cost of a jacket tailored to fit the student, along with a tie or scarf. Whether you wore the blue corduroy yourself or simply believe in the leadership skills, work ethic, and values the organization instills in today's youth, investing in this program ensures that our future agricultural leaders can walk into their next chapter event with pride.

To donate a jacket, visit Blue Jackets. Bright Futures. You can ensure the growing number of Nebraska FFA members are given the opportunity to belong to something bigger than themselves—because, it’s more than just a jacket.
