The Fairbury FFA Chapter has been participating in the I Believe in the Future of Ag campaign for nearly a decade now. They believe the campaign gives their FFA Chapter another great chance to fundraise throughout the year.
Fairbury FFA uses the funds to help support its 62 members in many different areas of FFA, including purchasing supplies for its FFA Staff Appreciation breakfast, chapter meeting breakfasts, and members' SAE Projects. They also use these funds to buy supplies for their cotton candy machine that they use for extracurricular activities.
Members of the Fairbury FFA Chapter interact with the campaign first by collecting donations during their Fruit Sales. If people don’t want to purchase fruit but still want to donate, members discuss the campaign with them. Members then write thank-you letters to each individual who donated. Finally, members invite and interact with some sponsors at their annual FFA Banquet.
Fairbury FFA members don’t just benefit financially from the campaign though. “The best interactions come when students are out selling or delivering fruit. They get to interact with people of the Fairbury Community and this is a big step for some students to get out of their comfort zone,” said Fairbury FFA Co-Advisor, Thomas Dux. The I Believe in the Future of Ag Campaign can benefit FFA members in many different ways!
The I Believe in the Future of Ag campaign supports local FFA chapters through the generous contributions of sponsors. Students, like those at Fairbury, are granted opportunities that support learning and leadership development because of their participation.
